How to Pack the Storage Unit
Keep your frequently used items at the front of your unit.
Draw a map to show where you’ve placed items. Make copies of it. Keep one inĀ the unit and one at home.
Leave a path down the middle so you can reach the back.
Do not store anything flammable (paint, gasoline, chemicals) or perishable.
Drain fluids from lawnmowers, weed eaters, or other equipment.
Protect furniture and bedding.
Store bedding flat.
Pack to the ceiling to utilize your space.
Use a stool to reach high places.
Stack chairs seat-to-seat with blankets or towels between them.
Store items in refrigerators, drawers, etc.
Leave refrigerator and freezer doors slightly cracked for circulation.
Store shovels, hoes, rakes, and hoses inside trash cans. Stack empty trash cans inside each other.
Keep an emergency preparedness kit in your storage unit in case you can’t get to the one in your home.
