Packing Tips

How to Pack Boxes

Gather boxes, tape, packing materials, markers, furniture covers, etc. before you begin.

Label boxes on all sides for easy identification. Number the boxes and keep an inventory of each.

Place fragile boxes on top of heavier boxes. Place heavier items at the bottom of boxes. Mark box “This Side Up”.

Pack the boxes light so they are easy to lift. Place light items in large boxes. Heavy items in smaller boxes.

Seal boxes tightly with packing tape to keep the dust out.

Use a wardrobe box to hang clothing, draperies, and other fabrics that need to breathe.

Break furniture down. Lash the pieces together with tape or twine. Use small ziploc bags to hold screws and bolts. Tape themĀ  to the furniture.

Protect your breakables. Wrap dishes and glassware invidiually and pad the box with packing paper or bubble wrap.
